Cold cuts and charcuterie, pies and potatoes, wine and craft beer - there's a food event for every age and taste at this year's Ballarat Winter Festival.
Plate Up Pies

WHEN: 30 May - 23 JULY

Federation University TAFE are proud to present the battle to be crowned Ballarat's best pie from twenty of the city's famed restaurants and cafe's. With a focus on local produce, each venue's pie must feature three local ingredients. Licensed venues will also pair their pie with a locally brewed beer or cider from Red Duck Brewery, or 321 Cider (for the big kids among us!)

Potato Festival

Showcasing the versatility of the humble spud, the Potato Festival will stimulate all your senses and go beyond just fries or potato salad. Think gnocchi, the classic baked potato and more. 

Experience the potato in a variety of dishes and forms and watch as the produce of the region is put under the spotlight. If ever you wanted an excuse to carb load, it's here.

Hot Choc Tours

ENTRY: $35 Adult, $12 Child

The Hot Chocolate Historical City Walking Tour is a guided walking tour of inner city Ballarat. This comprehensive tour brings to life the history of this goldrush city as you walk amongst the gardens, statues and heritage buildings. At the end of the tour warm up with a hot chocolate and cake at Craigs Royal Hotel.

Red Wine Warm Fire

Nothing more epitomises winter than having a red wine beside a warm fire. On this Pyrenees wine tour you get to taste fabulous red wines from the Pyrenees region, whilst being beside a cosy fire to keep you warm. Lunch is also included with some winter favourites!

Hop Temple

Hop Temple will be celebrating Christmas in July every Wednesday night during the Ballarat winter Festival. 

The inside of Hop will be lit up like Christmas each Wednesday, with snow falling in Hop Lane to welcome your arrival. Pop by for carols, the Hoppy Christmas Burger, mulled wine and cider and experience the magic.

With the recent boom of artisan produce, Ballarat will play host to the inaugural Salumi and Charcuterie Festival. Taking place in the beautiful surrounds of the historic Ballarat Mining Exchange, makers of terrine, hams, salumi, bacon, chorizo, pate, sausages and other smallgoods will have their best on show. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy and purchase great quality meats paired with local craft beers and cider whilst listening to sweet beats.
