WHERE: Backspace Gallery
ENTRY: Free entry

Featuring work in all mediums by scores of artists from across Australia, Cats in Art moves well beyond the 'cute kitten video' and delves into our relationship with the companion that chooses us, rather than the other way around.

Cats were the first domesticated animal to be defied and worshipped by people as the earthly representative of a higher consciousness, and cats - both wild and domesticated - have been the centrepiece of artworks for millennia.

Cats in Art celebrates the many ways that felines are depicted in contemporary art - realistic, abstracted, serious and playful, vengeful and surreal.
